MARK Leslie Tucker over-reacted when police took hold of him following an incident at a Blackburn town centre takeaway.
Blackburn magistrates heard that he had undergone several operations on a damaged wrist and he feared the police actions would aggravate the injury.
Tucker, 32, of Hamilton Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £55 costs. Charges of criminal damage to a window and assaulting a police officer were dismissed.
Libby Reed, prosecuting, said police were called to an incident in Higher Church Street and Tucker was pointed out to them. He ran off but was caught and an officer put his arm up his back. At that stage Tucker began to struggle violently.
Kevin Preston, defending, said it was a measure of the man that Tucker had arranged for a window at the takeaway to be replaced and compensated the owner. Tucker was concerned the police might cause further damage to his arm.
