WIGAN and Bolton Health Authority has a new woman in the top seat.
Jean Garlick, aged 51, has taken over as chairman from Lene Pickford. Mrs Garlick, the former chairman of Wigan and Leigh Community Health Council, has been appointed for three years with an annual salary of £17,625.
She is currently support service manager for Making Space -- a voluntary organisation that works with mental health services -- and has been a member of Wigan and Leigh Community Health Council since 1982.
The new appointment was confirmed in writing this week by Secretary of State for Health, Alan Milburn.
Dr Tom Mann, chief executive of the health authority, said: "We are delighted at the news that Mrs Garlick is the new chairman and I look forward to working with her."
