STARR-struck Golborne High School pupils dazzled the Motown hit singer Edwin Starr with an up beat performance of their contest entry "War On Crime".
The famous soul singer, who recorded part of his song "War" for pupils to use on the soundtrack of their competition musical was in school for a private showing.
On Monday they performed their 10 minute act in the On The Beat 2000 finals at Bridgewater Hall, an event organised by Greater Manchester Police, aimed at reducing crime - and finished in third spot.
The three scenes from their production depicted joy riding and alcohol abuse leading to violence and drug prushing.
They were up against nine other schools from throughout the county hoping to take the top prize.
The singer stars at The Hippodrome, Leigh's new super pub, next Wednesday night.
