LEIGH has lost two of its long serving GPs.
Husband and wife team, Doctors Mohan and Padma Tolaney, pictured, hung up their stethoscopes on Wednesday after twenty six and a half years in Leigh caring for 4,000 patients.
Their Bond Street practice will be taken over for the time being by Dr Mercer, a partner in the Bengal Street, Leigh, practice of Dean, Speakman and Richardson, and Dr Raabe.
Drs Tolaney (pictured) have two daughters, Sapna and Sonia.
Both grew up in Leigh and were educated at Bolton School. One is now a barrister and the other followed in her parents' medical footsteps.
The couple now intend to spend their time pursuing their many hobbies and travelling.
Dr Mohan said: "Our daughters live in London and we have two grandchildren there. We will now be able to help them out when they have trouble finding babysitters!"
