I WAS horrified to read (LET, March 29) about the EU plans to pressure-cook pets before they can be buried as I have used the services of the Rossendale Pet Crematorium at Crawshawbooth on several occasions and always found it a comfort to know that a much-loved pet can be disposed of with kindness, care and dignity.
If this ruling is allowed, people will not use the crematoriums and begin to bury pets in their gardens or the countryside -- which, I'm sure, would a lot more hazardous to our health and the environment.
A lot of the crematoriums would have to close, after working hard to build up business for many years.
Isn't it about time our government stood up to the EU instead of allowing them to make these silly, senseless rules?
