I READ MEP Chris Davies's letter (Bury Times, Mar 24) with interest, in particular the part where he issued a challenge to his critics. Needless to say I have responded to it and am awaiting further details.
I am told that they are hoping to have debates in several areas and, as I am a pensioner dependent on public transport, I hope one will be in Bury.
I was disappointed, however, that Chris Davies did not respond to my letter with constructive argument but continued to reiterate the myth that any opposition to the EU is confined to the Tory Eurosceptics or is motivated by a hatred of foreigners.
I look forward to a sensible debate which, as far as I am concerned, will not just be about keeping the pound or the economic advantages or disadvantages for this country, which usually means British business, but it will be about further rule by Europe in every walk of our life.
