THE new structures being introduced by the ruling Labour group on Blackburn with Darwen Council are both ill-conceived and undemocratic and the so-called consultation process has been farcical.
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph is to be applauded for bringing this erosion of democracy to the attention of the people of the borough.
As was demonstrated in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph (LET, March 30), the Labour group are split on this issue.
As for the behaviour of Councillor Stephen Greenwood in desperately sending out e-mails to his fellow Labour colleagues telling them not to be scabs and not to condemn these new undemocratic structures, he needs reminding that we live in a democracy.
Thankfully, some of his colleagues had the guts to put democracy before party loyalty.
