BRITISH Cultural Heritage will soon benefit from joining with 46 other countries and adopting the theme of a European Cultural Heritage.
The 'European Heritage Days 2000' weekend, to be held on September 16 and 17 in conjunction with the Council for Europe, will foresee the opening --on a voluntary basis -- of museums, cathedrals, private houses and industrial sites.
Other free event proposals will arise, such as town walks and art exhibitions.
English heritage will fund the event through the Heritage grant fund, Warner Holidays Limited, the Guardian and Heritage Lottery Fund.
Registration for the Heritage days is free and the Civic Trust provides an information pack and guidance for those organisations who have not opened to the public before.
To register, write to The Co-originator, The Civic Trust, 17 Carlton House Terrace, London, SW1Y 5AW or e-mail hods@civictrust.org.uk.
