STABLES were destroyed in a fire on a smallholding in Holden Road, Brierfield.
The owner of the land, Jack Oxborough, of Coronation Road, Brierfield, usually kept horses and pigs in his timber sheds but his animals were elsewhere.
The blaze was started by a petrol generator.
