ST HELENS Council is to spend more than £2.3 million on road improvement works with a boost in spending on major maintenance works and local safety schemes.
The council has secured funding amounting to £1.3 million (15 per cent up on last year) for bridge and carriageway strengthening, while £1.061 million (10 per cent up on last year) is for local safety schemes and minor works.
Spending has been approved on 13 structural carriageway maintenance schemes in various wards, as well as local safety schemes and other transport schemes.
