LEIGH RMI lost out in a seven goal thriller at Gainsborough -- despite twice being in front.
The 4-3 defeat cuts Leigh's lead at the top of the Premiership to six points after Gateshead's 3-2 win at Colwyn Bay.
RMI had raced into a two-goal lead inside 24 minutes.
When Neil Matthews was fouled in the box Mark Ward made no mistake from the spot; three minutes later Brian Ross doubled Leigh's tally.
Goals either side of the break by Steve Williams brought Gainsborough level before Matthews restored the Railwaymen's advantage on the hour. The lead lasted just 10 minutes before Steve Price equalised and Nicky Limber grabbed the winner 13 minutes from time.
RMI's claims for a second penalty in the closing stages fell on deaf ears.
