A LEYLAND teenager has been bailed by Merseyside Police following an horrific car smash in which a Preston girl died.
The 17-year-old, who has not been named, was arrested following a car crash in Liverpool city centre on Friday night last week.
He has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Cardinal Newman College student Emma Gough, 18, from Preston, died in the crash, which happened when the car she was travelling in collided with another vehicle at the junction of Great Howard Street and Derby Road.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "We believe Emma was with friends on a night out in the city when the accident took place."
Emma's family were too distressed to speak about her death, while sources at Cardinal Newman said students were "struggling to come to terms with her death".
