A SUNDAY school which started out with just five youngsters has grown from strength to strength and now has 50 members.
Youth Leader Steven Parker runs St George's Sunday School in Mill Hill and says the youth group, for 12 to 16-year-olds, has become really popular and now the group is planning a trip to a Christian youth camp in the summer.
He said: "I thought the youngsters needed something a bit more than a Sunday school.
"I don't think it should be all about doing Bible lessons, as they need to be living out their faith. They don't see Christianity as boring or irrelevant and it's something that's active in their lives, which is why the group is so popular. It just shows there's something really positive coming out of Mill Hill." The group takes part in a variety of activities, including games and projects and they also go to events such as Christian music concerts.
The group are planning to go to the camp organised by the Northern Evangelical Trust in Yorkshire on July 29, and are organising fundraising events to raise money for the trip.
They are holding a fair on Saturday, April 15, at St George's Church in Mill Hill with various stalls selling cakes, crafts, as well as bric-a-brac, games and a tombola.
Mr Parker added: "These young people are doing something for themselves and I hope everyone will come along and support them."
