BLACKBURN Inner Wheel have handed over two cheques from the proceeds of their shop in Lord Street West.
Marion Williamson, president, presented £500 to the RNLI and £100 to Life Education, the Inner Wheel's current charity, chosen by district chairman Dorothy Broadley.
The Inner Wheel has a special millennium appeal throughout the UK to raise money to buy a 'Trent' Class relief boat to be used whenever a lifeboat was being serviced. Blackburn Inner Wheel has raised £1,000 for the appeal.
Rita Edge, Inner Wheel committee member and secretary of the Blackburn branch of the RNLI, is appealing for volunteers to help out with collections in Blackburn town centre on Saturday, May 6, for RNLI's annual flag day. Contact Rita on 01254 812223.
