EVERYTHING including the kitchen sink was cleared away from Witton Park's riverbanks by environmentalists and Blackburn's Community Service team.
The Tidy Britain Group teamed up with the offenders doing community service on Friday and Saturday to tidy up the riverbank as part of the National Spring Clean month.
Jon Riley of the Tidy Britain Group said: "There were about 20 lads from community service and they were a really big help. Among the stuff we cleared away were three bags and even a kitchen sink."
This is the group's 10th annual spring clean and will run for the whole of this month to encourage people to take positive action against litter and to take pride in their local environment.
To organise a litter-pick or launch a clean-up in your area ring the Tidy Britain hotline on 0800 783 7838 or visit the website at www.tidybritain.org/nsc.
Project supervisors Michael Daly and Brian Shaw (centre) are pictured with workers helping to clear the riverbank.
