Great Harwood Town 0 Newcastle Town 3
ANOTHER punchless performance from struggling Harwood saw them comfortably turned over by a Newcastle side still chasing promotion.
A goal down in the opening minutes following a freak bounce of the ball, Harwood rarely looked like getting back on level terms against a superior side.
Two more in the last 10 minutes underlined Newcastle's edge, while Harwood boss Denis Underwood must continue to search for attacking re-inforcements.
The visitors took the lead in the sixth minute when Dean Cunningham was left with a simple tap-in courtesy of the notorious Showground pitch.
Harwood keeper Lee Kennedy was completely bamboozled as the ball took off and bounced over his head, when he moved out to make what would normally have been a straightforward take.
Kennedy, however, was Harwood's hero on two other occasions in the half as he made superb saves to keep Newcastle at bay.
The home team's best chance of salvaging something came with a controversial refereeing decision at 1-0 down. The ref played a good advantage but, when a Harwood man was then fouled in the penalty area, he took play back to give them just the original free kick.
With 10 minutes left, Rob Myatt smashed home Newcastle's second following a fair amount of defensive dithering and Darren Twigg touched in the third three minutes later.
Harwood's season is finishing in some disarray, reflected by their failings up front.
