YOUNG classmates of a three-year-old who died of meningitis have raised money for research into the deadly disease.
And Timothy Haworth's parents have decided to launch a campaign to raise more cash for the National Meningitis Trust in his memory.
Timothy (pictured), of Margaret Street, Blackburn, joined Shadsworth Infants School's nursery group only a few weeks before he died last October.
The three and four-year-olds at the school have since raised more than £700 for school funds and the medical charity with a carol concert and a sponsored brick build, and presented Timothy's dad David with a cheque for £370 at a special assembly on Friday.
Mr Haworth, an ambulanceman, said: "The children have done really well. They have started the ball rolling and now we want to do some fundraising too.
"We don't want anyone else to have to go through this and if we can help crack this problem then we will do."
The family is organising a sponsored walk and an abseil down Blackburn town hall. If anyone would like to join their events, especially any other families who have lost a loved one to meningitis, they can call the family on 01254 661822.
Pictured is the presentation of the cheque, watched by nursery nurse Julie Mills, left, and parents David and Janet Haworth and some of the pupils.
