A BRIDGE originally built for use by the Swedish Army will be used to carry a narrow country road over the River Douglas at Sollom, near Tarleton.
The 54-metre 'Bailey' style bridge, which was built by the Swedish Army but never used in their service, was bought by specialist bridging firm Mabey Support Systems Ltd, dismantled and kept in storage.
Now the historic bridge will replace the old "Red Bridge" which had become unsafe. And Environment Agency engineers, who will install the bridge, are pleased that they are recycling too!
