NAZI graffiti has been daubed on Preston's biggest landmark -- the highest church tower in the country.

Vandals sprayed a swastika and 'kill the holy' along with other obscenities on the wall of St Walburge's Church in Ashton.

One local who spotted the attack early on Tuesday said: "The vandals have sprayed a swastika on the side and the word Jew above it.

"And they have done it in bright orange, which is very visible. It is simple mindless vandalism. I am appalled."

Parish priest Father Peter Sayer could not understand the motive behind the graffiti -- similar to an attack a few years ago.

He said: "There has been a lot of vandalism in the area recently.

"The person who has done this must have a sick mind. I can't understand why they would do it."
