KING Edward and Queen Mary's Under-12s rugby team are on the way to the valleys.

The team will complete their first season of competitive rugby with a tour of South Wales.

Scrum-half Charlie Osborne led his side to a hat-trick of wins in derby matches with an impressive 26-12 win against Kirkham Grammar School.

An exceptional second-half performance led to a brace of tries from centre David Tufft and enabled Lytham to celebrate wins against local rivals Rossall, Arnold and Kirkham.

Lytham coach Andy Weston is delighted with the keenness of both the school's A and B sides.

"This has been a great first season," he said.

"Many of the boys have learned all the basic skills of the game from scratch and they have impressed me with their enthusiasm.

"We are certainly looking forward to the challenge of the matches in Cardiff."

The Lytham youngsters will receive special certificates to match their successes at a presentation evening in King Edward's hall this Saturday.
