THE 244 pupils at St Chads CE School, Poulton, have created a millennium time capsule which has been hidden under the floorboards.
Headteacher at St Chads, Ian Woods, said the specially constructed brown box was filled to the brim with all manner of souvenirs of life in school in the year 2000.
He said: "There are letters, photos, exercises in all conceivable aspects of the school curriculum, secrets about our teachers, gifts and mementos, all to be passed on to those who are advised: 'Do not open this box until January 2050.'"
He went on to say the pupils watched the school's caretaker lower the capsule into the "black hole" underneath the floorboards.
Mr Woods said: "We hope that at least one, hopefully more, of the children will remember to retrieve the box in 2050. We aren't confident we can rely on the teachers to remember the event, so it's up to the children!"
