MIKE Gregory's Young Lions can test themselves against some big names from the world of Rugby League when Sheffield Eagles land at Gigg Lane on Sunday (kick-off 3pm).
Swinton notched an encouraging 14-14 draw with high-flying Dewsbury last Sunday and were only denied victory by some dodgy refereeing decisions.
Lions chief executive Tony Barrow said: "We did tremendously well against Dewsbury, considering we had so many players out injured. A couple of wins now and we are on our way again.
"We are hoping that one or two of our injured players may be back on Sunday," added Barrow. Coach Mike Gregory says Paul Barrow, Marlon Billy and Matt Bateman could be added to the 17 Lions on duty against Dewsbury.
Sheffield won at Leigh last Sunday. "That was a great win for them," said Barrow. "There's only us and them done that so far this season - won at Leigh. They are doing all right for a new team."
Sheffield Eagles, as they are now, were formed at the start of the season by player-coach Mark Aston and his father, Brian, now the club's chief executive. They got together to form a consortium that took over the club following the Huddersfield-Sheffield Super League merger.
"On paper, they look a good side," added Barrow. "They have players such as Aston, Michael Jackson, who is a Great Britain international, and John Strange. "When you look at their team, there are a lot of well-known names in there. I am surprised they are not higher than they are in the league."
Sheffield are, in fact, below the Lions in the bottom half of the Northern Ford Premiership, with only six points to their name so far this season.
So Swinton will be going for it in a big way as they bid to follow up last week's draw with a much-needed victory -- their first in five games in fact.
And a confident Barrow declared: "If we play like we did last Sunday, we should have no problems."
