ROCK-BOTTOM Chesterfield will be shown no mercy by Andy Preece and his goal-hungry Shakers tomorrow.
Smarting from two 3-0 defeats at Cambridge and Millwall, Bury will be keen to get back amongst the goals and, as a result, winning ways against the seemingly doomed Spireites.
Chesterfield are nine points adrift at the foot of the Division Two table and have just parted company with manager John Duncan.
And Bury boss Andy Preece said: "We don't want to let Chesterfield off the hook. We need to win. If we can hit that 50-point barrier then we are certainly safe ourselves.
"We are in a good position now, but I wouldn't say we are safe. It's important we get those three points -- but we will have to earn the right to win the game.
"Chesterfield's manager has gone and teams normally respond to that. We must be on our guard.
"We want to put in a good performance like we did against Scunthorpe. The same sort of performance and the same sort of result.
"The atmosphere was good. The crowd responded well that day. We'll be looking for the same again . . . on and off the pitch." Preece has doubts over centre back Steve Redmond (ankle), centre back Sam Collins (thigh) and winger Kemajl Avdiu (groin), but central defender Chris Swailes came through the reserves 2-1 win over Macclesfield at Radcliffe on Wednesday with no problems and could return to first team action against Blackpool next Saturday.
Lee Connell and Jason Jarrett got the Reserves goals.
Watching from the stands tomorrow will be loan striker Dean Crowe, who is making the trip from his Stockport home, despite having his leg in plaster from top to bottom!
The physiotherapist at Crowe's club, Stoke City, has hinted that it could be seven weeks before Crowe is ready to train again, but Bury boss Preece said: "We will be monitoring Dean's situation."
Chesterfield should have former player Nicky Law installed as caretaker-manager by the time they arrive for tomorrow's game at Gigg Lane. Law led Chesterfield to promotion in the Third Division play-off final with a 2-0 win over Bury at Wembley Stadium in May 1995.
Law, who also played for Barnsley and Hereford, was working as the Saltergate club's Football in the Community Officer.
Names tipped to takeover the mamagerial vacancy created by John Duncan's departure earlier in the week are former Bury player Danny Wilson, who recently lost his job at Sheffield Wednesday, Hillsborough No 2 Frank Barlow and ex-Manchester United, Nottingham Forest and England international Nigel Clough.
Chesterfield, nine points adrift of the rest at the foot of the Second Division, have injury doubts over midfield men Roger Willis and Ryan Williams, while striker John Howard is also rated a doubtful starter because of a knock.
New owner Darren Brown's arrival at Chesterfield led to Duncan's departure. He is the major shareholder with 94.6 per cent of the shareholding and is also the club's vice-chairman. At 28 he is set to become the youngest chairman in the Football League.
Brown owns a printing business in Chesterfield and is also in the process of building a sporting empire as he also controls the Sheffield Steelers and Sheffield Sharks basketball and ice hockey teams as well as the Hull Storm ice hockey outfit.
