THREE youths have been told not to step foot on Callon estate following a string of abusive behaviour stretching back ten months.

The anti-social behaviour orders are the first to be imposed by the council in a bid to crack down on anti-social behaviour.

Residents have been urged to report Lee Michael Walsh, 13, Lee Michael Bux, 15, and Marcus Andrew Taylor, 16, if they spot them breaching the ban.

The orders have been obtained as a result of joint action between Preston Borough Council and the police.

Not only will the youths not be allowed to enter the troubled Callon estate, near Ribbleton, they will have to obey a strict curfew to ensure that they are at home from 10pm to 8am. It follows a catalogue of abusive behaviour from April 1999 to February this year, including threatening members of the public, harassing shopkeepers and damaging property.

The landmark decision is a result of the council's work with other social landlords, such as Collingwood Housing Association, to give tenants the right to occupy their properties without their lives being made a misery by the actions of a minority.

Council leader Peter Rankin said: "This is good news for the people especially for those on the Callon estate.

"The fact that these orders have been granted are in recognition that the people are entitled to be protected from this type of behaviour, now and in the future.

"The council and the police will continue to work together in Preston to ensure that the anti-social behaviour of the minority is dealt with through powers that are available to us, which will include obtaining further anti-social behaviour orders if necessary."
