SO we welcomed back King Kurt like no other player I can remember. He looked almost embarrassed by the rapturous applause he received and missed a good chance too.
We also welcomed back jittery football which, after such a good win against Wigan, surprised me, I can tell you!
That aside, we are five points clear with five games to go, major thanks to Oldham on Tuesday night for a fine win and to Cambridge for a draw with Brizzle Rovers.
It seems a shame that we have to rely on other teams at the moment but we have managed six wins and a couple of draws in the last nine games ourselves just in case anyone thinks we are going through a bad patch.
Another big game on Saturday at Brizzle Rovers, I hope it is on the telly at Deepdale as it beats watching it on Ceefax with one eye closed, doesn't it? They seem to be suffering the same misfortune as we did last year; I don't think they have won for five games and have only managed two draws in that time -- deja vu there I think!
Bad news about Gregan hurting his back, maybe this gives Mick Appleton a chance to prove himself, but I suspect Rob Edwards will move up from left back.
Still, even without Gregan we should give any team in this division a game. A point of Saturday would suit me provided we beat the mighty Scunthorpe next week.
Then all we have to do is save it for Millwall and not do Blackpool any favours at all ... Nah, they can manage relegation by themselves.
