AN outline scheme to build a house on the car park of a former Pendleside village pub has been granted extra time by councillors to be completed.
The controversial plan to erect a house in the former Lamb Inn car park, Newchurch-in-Pendle, was granted by an inspector on appeal in 1996 after Pendle Council refused planning permission.
The parish council and some villagers wanted to save the car park for use by locals and the many tourists who visit the area, particularly for its connection with the Pendle Witches.
Pendle Council's Barrowford and Western Parishes area committee agreed to renew the planning permission for a further five years despite five letters objecting to the move.
