SPRING is in the air... and it's time to make a clean sweep, or so residents in Brookfield Housing Estate reckon.
They're pulling on their wellies and getting their hands dirty by doing their bit for the national Spring Clean Campaign.
More than sixty local schoolchildren took part in the Moor Nook clean-up, alongside staff from Preston council's parks and cleansing departments, and filled four skips with rubbish.
The areas to be cleaned up this Saturday (April 15) are around the shops and nearby Langcliffe Road.
Councillor Rose Kinsella, leisure services committee chairman, said: "This sort of initiative is fantastic.
"It is great to see community groups getting involved and actively helping to clean up their local area."
Residents can join the clean-up by meeting at 10am on Saturday, in front of the Brookfield District Housing Office.
Anyone wanting to organise a clean-up can call Eddie Curry at leisure services on (01772) 203456.
