I WAS astonished and incensed to read the report in The Journal (March 30) entitled 'The Great Mole Hunt'.
Surely my interpretation of the article must be incorrect? The council are going to use ratepayers money and resources yet again, in an attempt to discover the person who followed the correct procedure in bringing to the public and ratepayers' attention, the original blatant mis-use of ratepayer funded resources, vis-a-vis councillors accessing pornography via the Internet.
Perhaps Cllr Strett and his colleagues would care to reflect on the fact that the collective members of the cabinet are all in favour of whistle blowing and totally against accessing pornography on the net.
This said, while I am as a ratepayer totally against my monies being used to fund a witch hunt, as a taxpayer I am quite happy to have them fund a Government investigation in to the whole affair.
I have little doubt that had it been a member of the teaching profession engaged in such unseemly behaviour and not council colleagues, the good councillor would not be rushing up on his white charger in an attempt to cover up the whole sordid mess.

Editor's note: Our story said the council would not be involved in the NEC inquiry, but that Cllr Strett would co-operate with the NEC as a Labour Party member.
