A NURSE from the Royal Lancaster Infirmary turned crimefighter last week and led police to a gang of thieves who had stole a cash box from the hospital.
The 27-year-old staff nurse, who asked us to protect her identity, saw three youths trying to smash open a cash box in an all next to the Infirmary as she made her way home from work.
She said: "I knew immediately what they were up to. I ran straight to the nearest phone and called the police. Two officers turned up in a van, picked me up and I directed them straight to the alley. The boys were still there and the police caught them no problem."
She added: "I believe strongly in helping to fight crime and stealing from hospital, which needs all the money it can get, really wound me up."
