THE Big Four are set for the Davenport Cup.
Higher Fold LC, Leigh Sportsmen, Leigh Phoenix and Church Inn made it to the semi-finals of the Leigh & District Amateur Football League competition on 17-goal Saturday.
Steve Critchley, Steven Burns and Neil Clayton hit the target as Higher Fold pushed past Leigh Avenue 3-1 with Steven Ackers grabbing a consolation.
Steven Isherwood hit a double as Leigh Sportsmen overcame the challenge of Bowling Green Eagles.
And it was Phoenix to the fore as they romped by Royal Oak 4-1 with goals from Dennis Hilton, Wayne Pitchford, Scott Mulcrow and Steve Anderton; Johnathan Parr got one back.
Church Inn beat Leigh Three Crowns 5-1, Mark Spencer 2, Terry Flannery 2 and Steven Kettley getting the five, Kevin Parker the one. In Division Two Atherton C&N thumped Fir Tree Rangers 6-0 (Steven Harris, John Wood, David Coope 3, Dave Lord) while Britannia went one better for a 7-1 win against Howe Bridge Mills (Ian McKinnon 2, Terry Croft, Alan Mills, Mark Bretherton, Andy Tipping, Mark Broli; John Cassidy).
