WITH the start of the new season just around the corner, Rainford Cricket Club is moving full steam ahead to make sit its best ever.
Last season's overseas player Andrew Robinson, a 19-year-old wicket keepr/batsman from Queensland has returned, while the capture of Dave Tully from Orrell will strengthen the top order.
Ste Harrison will once again skipper the side ably assisted by new vice-captain Paul Calland.
The second string has appointed Chris Welding as their skipper for the forthcoming season.
The Sunday XI are once again captained by Ian Harrison.
On the junior front Rainford will again field four teams, the under 11s, under 13s, under 15s and the under 18s. Junior co-ordinator and club President Tony Hemingway would like to welcome any future Ian Bothams to the club on junior practice night, any Friday from 4.30pm, when resident club coach John Pendleton will be on hand to iron out any technical flaws. The cricketing action starts on thjs Sunday, April 16, with a friendly at home to Prestwich, while the following Saturday the First XI entertain Mawdesley with the Second XI making the opposite trip.
