I AM responding to the letter from Mr Roscoe (Citizen, March 30).
Firstly, he claims that it costs £10 to park a car in Blackpool. Mr Roscoe neglected to state the following facts:
Car owners can park in Talbot Road car park for seven days (secured parking), removing and returning their car when required for £27.00.
Car parking in any town centre car park is only £1.00 between 6.30pm and 11.30pm or £2.00 between 6.30pm and 8.30am.
Not surprisingly, he also omitted to state that a further £600,000 was being made available for CCTV security cameras via the Government and indeed, the Labour council is adding an additional £100,000 from car parking revenues, to improve security.
I was extremely perturbed at his other false allegations regarding the council teetering on the brink of bankruptcy and that the council has landed the town with a debt of £4.2 million.
Finally, I would address his claim that the council may target the holiday accommodation sector after the May elections.
I can assure your readers that if Labour is returned on May 4, this is absolutely not true.
I can only assume that since Mr Roscoe is standing for the Conservative Party (which he also neglected to say) his claim is clearly based on what would happen if the Conservatives were to win!
John Finlay,
Foxhall Labour Party.
