STAFF and students on the NCFE preparation for uniformed services advanced programme at St Helens College are holding a sponsored 'Abathon' to raise funds for the Alder Hey Hospital Rocking Horse Appeal.
The Abathon -- a 24-hour sit-up marathon -- starts at noon today (Thursday, April 13) in the sports hall of the Step Up Leisure Suite at the college's Town Centre Campus, Brook Street. And participants will be looking to better last year's efforts when a total of 136,000 sit-ups raised more than £1,000.
Running in conjunction with the Abathon will be a 24-hour sponsored bike ride by staff members Ian Sidebottom and Marc Laithwaite who will cycle as far north as they can and back in the allotted time.
