AN 80-year-old woman was left distressed and suffering from back and chest pains after being assaulted in her own home by an intruder demanding money.
The incident happened at about 2.30pm on Wednesday, April 5, when the victim went back into her home in Buckfast Avenue, Haydock after being in the front garden for a short while.
When she went indoors she was confronted by a man in a dark-coloured ski mask and dark clothing. The intruder pushed and shoved the pensioner, knocking her over and demanding cash before escaping with about £40.
The offender is described as 5ft 6in tall with a slim build.
DS Tommy Wright said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact us."
