HERE'S another memory of the mudbath match of nearly 30 years ago.
Looking Back recently recalled it -- when non-leaguers Great Harwood FC drew a record gate for their ill-fated tilt at FA Cup glory against Rotherham United.
Back then, Harwood was virtually a second home for Blackburn Rovers retirees -- with no fewer than six ex-Ewood Park players in the side that went down 6-2.
But reader Derek Jones, who was in the 5,000-plus crowd that November day, tells me of yet another connection the game had with the Blackburn club.
For says Derek, the man who compiles the statistics in Rovers' match-day mag, one of Rotherham's scorers that day, outside left Jimmy Mullen, also ended up at Ewood. "He made nine first-team appearances when Rovers won the Third Division championship in 1974-75, but he broke his leg in the game against Peterborough in the February and that put him out for the rest of the season," he says.
Unlucky Jim moved to Bury the following year and later joined Rochdale on loan.
