MORE than 150 people went to the Accrington and District Blind Society's 125th anniversary appeal Easter fair, which has raised £330.
There were a variety of stalls and attractions, including a tombola, raffles, cake stall, and a play your cards right contest. The Mayor of Rossendale, Coun Alan Neal, also paid a visit.
The society is aiming to raise £70,000 in their 125th anniversary appeal for refurbishing the premises and developing services. They have already raised £30,000 this year through various events, and have received an anonymous donation and help from the church, Oswaldtwistle Rotary Club and Accrington Lions Club.
Marion Clark, secretary of the society, said: "It was a very successful day."
They are planning two more fundraising events. The Mayor's charity night will be held at Oswaldtwistle Conservative Club, Rhyddings Street, on Friday April 28, featuring a group called "Pure Coincidence". Tickets are £1 and will be available on the door, or in advance from Oswaldtwistle Conservative Club or Accrington Town Hall.
A coffee morning will be held on Tuesday, May 2, at Oswaldtwistle Conservative Club at 11am. Tickets will be available in advance from Oswaldtwistle Conservative Club or from the society's social club in Bank Street, Accrington.
