A NEW website has been set up to help young people surf their way to a career.
The XTEND initiative in East Lancashire has set up the site -- www.xtend.co.uk -- to detail vacancies at local employers.
It also includes interviews with local school leavers who are already taking part in XTEND programmes which offer young people the chance to work towards high level qualifications and earn a wage.
"When ELTEC is dismantled in 2001, work-based training for young people will be controlled by the Learning and Skills Council for Lancashire," said Andy Fawcett, ELTEC's training and education development director.
"During the transitional phase and long after the changes are made it will still be vitally important that East Lancashire's schools, colleges, training provides, employers and local agencies work together to ensure that all local young people can access up-to-the-minute information on jobs with training."
