CHILDREN and teachers went back in time to a Victorian school of a hundred years ago.
More than 80 young pupils at Roe Lee primary school, Blackburn, sat in rows and practised their handwriting on slates as part of their "Lives 100 years ago" project.
Teacher Sharon Westhead said staff hired costumes for the event and organised drill classes, candle-lit storytimes in a blacked out room and 19th century games.
She said: "We called them all by their surnames and they all had to be quiet and stand in line.
"The children loved it. Afterwards, they were all asking us to be strict again!"
Earlier this term the Year One and Two pupils went to the replica Victorian classroom at Wigan Pier.
Teacher Rachel Gibson is pictured with Chloe Warren and Tasneen Patel as they write on slates.
