A THOUSAND tulips planted to mark the millennium at the East end of Blackburn Cathedral have burst into flower.
The red and yellow tulips were planted last year close to the Boulevard by members of the Cathedral congregation.
Gordon Shaw, of Whinney Lane, Mellor, helped to plant the flowers and said another thousand would be planted this year as part of the millennium celebrations.
The Dean of Blackburn Cathedral, the Very Rev David Frayne, is pictured with some of the blooms.
