MORE than 1,600 people enjoyed a 'Brass Night at the Proms' and raised £6,000 for charity.
Accrington Rotary Club organised the event, held at King George's Hall, Blackburn, to raise money for their three named charities -- the double donut scanner at the Christie Hospital, Manchester, Derian House children's hospice, Chorley, and Life Education for Lancashire.
The audience were treated to music from the JJB Sports Leyland Brass Band, Rossendale Male Voice Choir, Rossendale Ladies Choir and guest soprano Fiona Clucas. At the end of the night the audience waved Union Flags and sang 'Rule Britannia' and 'Land of Hope and Glory.'
The rotary club has organised the event every year for the past four years and has raised a total of £18,000.
Alistair Symons, treasurer at Accrington Rotary Club, said: "It was an excellent night, and it was nice to have two local choirs this year."
