A TWO-year-old boy was rescued by firefighters after getting his foot trapped in a drain.
Martina Johnston, 20, said her other son, three-year-old Connor, had alerted her after Steven, two, got his foot trapped outside his home in Ermine Close, Fishmoor, Blackburn.
Steven had been playing in the back garden and had thrown his plastic toy hammer down the drain and tried to get it out with his foot.
Martina tried to get him out but he did not want her to help him so she rang the fire brigade.
The firefighters gave Steven a Trauma Ted teddy bear after his ordeal.
Leading Firefighter Tony Keane said: "He was obviously a bit distressed when we arrived. We just leant him forward and his foot popped out.
He added: "Trauma Ted is our friendly teddy bear who is intended to provide some comfort to young children who are traumatised by fire, accident or other incident where Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is involved. Having a little friend to cuddle at a time of distress can be of great comfort to a young child."
The Trauma Ted project is sponsored by British Energy, Heysham Power Stations, with assistance from Belwoven Labels of Colne.
