I READ with interest that Blackburn with Darwen may soon by governed by a committee of "super" councillors.
Could someone please tell me where these "super" councillors will be found? Surely, not from among those who rule the roost at the present.
We have leaders who could not lead sheep, a finance committee which, in spite of writing off hundreds of thousands of pounds in the past, still shows a deficit of £1.2 million in uncollected debts.
Blackburn was once the jewel in the crown of East Lancashire. Now it is little better than a slum.
Thanks to years of council incompetence, we have a centre littered with empty shops and offices, a market with empty stalls where there used to be a waiting list of potential stall holders.
To be fair, the council has given us an abundance of mini roundabouts, speed humps, a tin tree or two and even a naked posterior carved in stone.
Can things get any worse? Yes, they can.
Heaven protect us from President Doherty and his committee of commissars ruling from behind closed doors.
MR H HODGKINSON, Nares Road, Blackburn.
