THREE charity fund-raisers received a welcome toast from Thwaites' Brewery this week while doing a 127-mile "walk."
Norman Chandley and Jim Holland, both 61 and from Ormskirk and Martin Culkin, 81, from Magull all represent the Multiple Sclerosis Towpath 2000 Expedition and took a much needed rest from their travels at Riley Green pub, the Boatyard.
The three "walkers" are travelling the route of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in electric disability scooters, as they are all MS sufferers -- the neurological disorder that attacks the nervous system.
And as main backers of the volunteers' project, Thwaites have pledged to back up the team, including a full residential narrow boat, fuel and administration costs.
Norman, said: "We have attracted a good deal of interest and awareness along the way, which is the aim of the whole project."
