Clitheroe 0 Prescot Cables 1
STEVE Parry looks set to bow out at Shawbridge on a low note after Clitheroe crashed to their sixth successive defeat.
But despite his side's recent run of defeats, the Clitheroe boss, who will quit as manager at the end of the season due to work and family commitments, insists the decision is not a footballing one: "I decided some months ago that I don't have the time. It's not a decision I've taken lightly but I know I wouldn't be able to give Clitheroe 100 per cent next season. The club deserves more and it's just a shame that the results have been poor of late because people will get the wrong idea."
Clitheroe were forced to make a number of late changes to their starting line-up and it took half an hour for the new-look side to bed in.
Prescot had several first half chances to take the lead as they bossed proceedings from the middle of the park.
But after a half-time team-talk, Parry's men came out fighting and looked the more likely side to snatch a goal until Prescot went in front despite a dubious decision by the linesman. Paul Heavy appeared to be offside as he rushed through onto an intercepted pass and slotted home the winner 10 minutes after the break.
