SOURAV Ganguly produced his first match-winning display for Lancashire as they powered to the top of the Benson and Hedges Cup Northern group.
The Indian star pocketed the Gold Award after impressing with the ball and bat in an otherwise farcical 10 overs slog against Durham at the Riverside stadium.
"Let's hope there are a lot more," he said. "But really it doesn't matter who gets them, as long as Lancashire keep winning."
Ganguly grabbed 3-7 in his two overs, before steering Lancashire to a nine wickets win with 19 balls to spare, hitting a six and two fours in an unbeaten 22. After scoring just seven runs in his first two matches, it was the perfect tonic.
"It is taking me time to get used to the weather -- it has been freezing," he said. "But it was nice to play some shots and for the ball to hit the middle of the bat."
Rain had saturated the square and, although not a drop fell yesterday, the game was reduced to 10 overs each. Durham struggled to 53-8, Ganguly doing most of the damage, andi it was almost too easy for Lancashire's all international batting line-up.
John Crawley hammered 20 and Ganguly joined Andy Flintoff to lead Lancashire home. Victory at Derby tomorrow should clinch a place in the quarter-finals although Crawley said: "We want to win both our remaining games and stay on top of the group to guarantee a home tie."
