THESE livewire workers made light work of improving the reliability of East Lancashire's electricity supply, as part of a £3million project.
A 25km stretch of cable running from Blackburn to Catterall, near Garstang, is being brought up to date by Norweb.
Work on the project, which is expected to last until August, is currently centring around the Lower Phillips Road area of Blackburn, where pylons are being dismantled and new ones put in place.
When the project is completed, an estimated 60,000 homes on the cable's route will benefit from improved supplies. A spokesman for Norweb said: "The existing cable and pylons date back to 1942 and, while they are still performing the job perfectly well, we have decided to replace them.
"There have been problems with supply in the past and hopefully this will solve the problem."
Nearly 100 pylons are being replaced, while the conductor wires and insulators on the cables are also being updated.
The spokesman added: "The cable will still follow the same route from the Blackburn grid to the Catterall grid.
"Residents shouldn't suffer while work is being carried out because supplies will be diverted."
