BLACKPOOL schoolchildren will soon be able to benefit from a maths teaching programme which is proving to be a huge success.
Kumon maths is a new approach to teaching which complements what is taught in schools but caters for the specific needs of each individual child.
And following in the footsteps of centres which opened in Thornton and Lytham there is soon to be a new centre in Waterloo Road.
David Hinder, the instructor at the new centre, said Kumon maths was fast gaining a reputation in teaching and said: "It started in Japan originally and now has more than 2.5m pupils learning maths in over 40 different countries -- 25,000 in the UK."
He explained the programme assesses the needs of each child and sets work according to this. The child works at his or her own pace and only moves on when they feel ready.
David, who has spent the last five years at another centre in Shropshire, said: "We try to ensure students of all ages master maths fully, without stress, and even enjoy it!"
To mark the opening of the new centre the first 15 students to enrol will be offered a two-week free trial before deciding whether or not they wish to continue. For more information call David on (01253) 720854.
