IN your article 'Get to grips with unruly behaviour' (LET, April 6), Councillor Harry Brooks suggested the setting up of a task force to deal with nuisance and anti-social behaviour.
May I tell readers and any members of the council who are not aware, that there is a new organisation set up in Burnley to deal with neighbourhood disputes.
Mediation in Burnley was launched at the end of last year and offers a free and impartial service to residents in the Burnley and Padiham area.
Our team of skilled mediators is trained and ready to help resolve conflict in the community. If you are troubled by abuse, noise, dogs, car parking or any other nuisance from neighbours, then ring our office on 427100 and we will send someone to see you.
Mediation is a strong tool in building stronger communities. It is a new approach in Burnley, but we have already had some encouraging early successes. Hopefully, as our work increases, we can make Burnley a better place to live in.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer mediator, please contact us.
