RECENTLY a double glazing firm visited my home and fitted two free fire alarms.
To my astonishment, one of these alarms fell from the ceiling and smashed my hall electric standard light. The consequences from this could have resulted in a more serious outcome had it not happened during the day.
After careful examination, and to my horror, it was found that my original fire alarms that had been fitted with fixing screws were removed and replaced with double-sided sticky tape. I am concerned that this type of installation has been carried out to other residents in the St Helens area and I would ask you to bring it to their attention immediately.
I have reported this incident to the Safety Officer, St Helens Fire Department and Trading Standards Section, St Helens Borough Council.
