INTERNET advice, for free, continues to spread its web across more businesses in Bury.

Small companies in Bury town centre are the latest to benefit from the series of local seminars which have been carried out by communications technology advisers, ISaware, an independent project backed by Bury Council and funded through European Regional Development Funds and the Single Regeneration Budget.

Already, previous sessions have proved to be a big hit with businesses elsewhere in the borough.

Now, organisers are hoping that more companies from the town centre will come along to find out the benefits they could reap from new technologies such as the Internet and e-mail.

ISaware Project Co-ordinator, Eve Davidson, said: "We have already held our IT Works, Getting your Business on Line seminars at local libraries throughout the borough and they proved very popular with a wide range of small companies.

"Now, on Tuesday May 2, we will begin a series of four weekly sessions which will be held at Bury Central Library. The seminars, which will run from 6pm - 8pm, are free and are a joint venture by ourselves, together with Bury College and Bury Council libraries." She added: "The sessions aim to encourage existing and new businesses to find out how communication and information technology such as the Internet, e-mail, video conferencing and IT software can not only increase efficiency but also profits.

"These latest seminars are an opportunity for Bury town centre businesses to find out for themselves how new technology can be of practical benefit to them.

"Further financial assistance for local companies wanting websites will also be available following on from these sessions," she disclosed.

The four planned sessions will cover a range of new technology related topics. They are as follows:

Tuesday May 2: Make it Work for You. How new communications and information technology can benefit your business. Focus on how PowerPoint presentations can help you get your message across.

Tuesday May 9: Beat the Competition. Using the Internet to stay ahead of competitors. Finding out how to access useful business information on-line.

Tuesday May 16: Win More Customers. Communicate with your customers and suppliers through e-mail, e-commerce and video conferencing.

Tuesday May 23: Reach the World. Guidelines for creating a website that will promote your business services globally.

Light refreshments will be provided at the events with presentations from guest speakers and practical hands-on sessions. There is free on street car parking from 6pm.
